Arts and Culture ( destination one : Napa Nui )
Very early on in humanity, dating back to the stone age, humans have always had a love for expressing their creative skills and imaginations, like cave paintings :
And with time these skills improved and started to contain more value and meaning, each drawing and scribble had a story behind it! so we humans decided to define these unique creations of ours, from sculptures, to musical notes under the name of Art !
In this blog ,the main type of art I will be talking about is Archaeology !! so lets go on a little journey together shall we? ;)
We shall first travel to.....(drumrolls pleeease)..... EASTER ISLAND!π
Easter Island or Rapa Nui is an island in the Pacific ocean, and what makes this island so special you may ask... see for yourself π
They're said to represent chiefs with supernatural powers sent by gods , so that we humans can take these supernatural abilities and use them for the benefit of humanity! ( clichΓ© I know, but its rather interesting π
)
There are 900 giant stone figures that date back many centuries ,way back until the 1200s,the statues reveal their creators to be master craftsmen and engineers, which is weird considering the lack of tools and technology in that time
These brilliant craftsmen and all the other Rapa Nui people (supposedly) left their native land by the time the sculptures were discovered. when and why they left still remains a mystery
( or maybe something wiped them out, we'll never know π¬)
We recently discovered that the Moai aren't just head sculptures, but they actually have bodies too! However, they were buried under the surface of the earth by time.
( helloo biceps π)
(............nevermind π)
But....word of advice?
Never and i mean never touch the Moai.
And thats because the Moai are protected by local law, touching one can get you fined !!
One tourist was fined more than $17,000 USD! (and maybe the Rapa Nui ancestors will cast a curse on you. )
I think we've had enough of Easter Island with all its giants and fines π lets go explore somewhere else, but where? hmmmm.....
